CHOP WOOD ... CARRY WATER

Probably one of the best self help books out there. All the chapters are great wisdom. The following are my favorite.

1.Chop Wood – Carry Water

2. Build your own house – What good is it to reach the top if you skipped steps

3. Faithful in the small things – Not the sexy stuff – dirty, hard work, done in the dark

4. Eye on the Journey – Not the end result, the process, can’t get to high or low, control controllable

5. Nothing is a test – An opportunity to learn and grow, not passing, maximizing your growth

6. Your value comes from: who you are, not what you do. Your value is constant

7. Uncomfortable isn’t a choice – Hard isn’t a choice, where and when is. Under pressure you don’t rise to the occasion, you sink to the level of your training. Comfortable when the pain is uncomfortable

8. Evil’s best weapon: Discouragement – Fuel with encouragement. Fuel your heart with 6 things: 1.) What you watch, 2.) what you read, 3.) what you listen to, 4.) Who you surround yourself with, 5.) How you talk to yourself, 6.) What you visualize (FUEL)

9. Insta Everything – You don’t shine under the bright lights, the lights only reveal the work you’ve done in the dark

10. Wandering Eyes – Comparison is the thief of joy, the grass isn’t greener on the other side the grass is greener where you water it. You must focus on your journey and yours alone.

11. Rough Side of the mountain – Remember, greatness isn’t for the chosen few, but for the few who consistently and persistently choose

12. Bamboo – Bamboo tree spreads roots under the surface. Chop wood and carry water is a long arduous process. It may feel as if nothing is happening, but you must trust the process

13. Famous Failures – Anything that happens to me is in my best interest and an opportunity to learn and grow
