BLINDED CONFIDENCE

The following is from Kamilla / The Dating Coach

It is a great description of confidence vs preparation!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A big lesson can be learned from this weekend's UFC main event. Alexander Volkanovski fought in a rematch against Islam Makhachev. In their first fight, Volkanovski lost but exceeded expectations. Up until that point, Makhachev looked unstoppable but Volkanovski made him look human and put him through a beating; however he lost by decision. This was a huge challenge for Volkanovski because Makhachev is in a higher weight class. In this second fight? It wasn’t planned. Volkanovski had elbow surgery this summer and recovered from it only a few weeks ago. Makhachev was supposed to fight someone else but that other fighter pulled out. With 11 days notice, Volkanovski got the call to fight Makhachev and he agreed. Volkanovski came out looking out of shape. In their first fight, he went a full five rounds and looked dominant. In this fight? Volkanovski got brutally knocked out in the first round. He hasn’t gotten knocked out since 2011. So what happened? Volkanovski is extremely confident. As he should be, he’s probably the greatest fighter in his weight class. However, that confidence developed because of all the wins he racked up - wins that came from full 6-8 week fight camps and intensive preparation while being in immaculate shape. There was no preparation here with 11 days notice. He barely trained all summer because of his surgery. His confidence blinded him from the realities of the danger he was walking into. For him to get knocked out in the first round like that plummeted his stock. He was obviously concussed too. Taking multiple hits like that at age 35 can have immediate ramifications for the rest of his career. What exactly does this mean for you? Never get cocky. - If you’re great at your career because of how much work you put into preparation, don’t go out there and wing a presentation or a client meeting without preparing. It’s the preparation that makes you good. Without it, you have no arsenal. - If you’re in great shape because of your routine, don’t change things up thinking you’ll be able to sustain your gains. Convincing yourself bingeing on food and all those beers won’t affect you is dumb. The routine is why you look good. Don’t become arrogant and think you can operate at a high level without your routine. - If waking up at 6am daily is why you’ve been so productive lately, don’t assume that productivity will be there if you start getting up at 2pm. Preparation and routine is why you become good. Most people don’t have talent. You have no choice but to depend on your routine and preparation. What about when it comes to women? Again preparation and routine That’s what matters. - Making sure you always look good - Knowing how to consistently network - Knowing what to say when you talk to women - Consistently DMing women the right way on Instagram You never know when the right woman will come along therefore you have to be ready.
